Home Again

We are home safe and sound. It was funny to look back on this blog and see just how badly my commitment to blog everyday fell apart with every mile we traveled. My intentions were good...but my internet connections were poor. As Raymond said"Geez, Erin , It's not NEW"..very true but I guess Al Gore forgot to call Scotland when he was designing the whole thing. HA !

We spent time in Edinburgh where we went to the Tattoo @ Edinburgh Castle, experienced the yearly "Fringe" fesitval, and then left for London and on to Boston. The travel day coming home was a 22-24 hr day. I can honestly say that I haven't done that since I was 22 on Rod & Brumbi's first anniversary. I haven't missed the "all nighter".

We have visited sights that I can't even describe, met wonderful people and learned more than you could in any classroom. My first trip to Europe will surely not be my last. I have a passport, a suitcase and a MasterCard...ready to go !

Next weekend when my internet is of normal speed I will post pictures. There will be LOTS. They may not be in order but I promise you they are beautiful.

Glasgow & Highlands

We have visited the village of Sneem, walked on Bogside and sailed from the Port of Larne...I'm not sure Dr. Seuss would have left if he had been here.

We are in Scotland. We stayed last night in the city of Glasgow and are now in a village called Aviemore. We have traveled through some beautiful places and the pictures wont do the locations justice but I hope you like them. We are all travel weary ( all meaning the entire group) but have much to see in the next three days...

Killarney & Limerick

Ok, I promised I would post everynight and already that's fallen apart. My internet last night had two options: connected or power. Power meaning a plug...no service in my room where there was a plug so no pictures...so here's the past two days.

We have taken coaches and boats and buggies( oh my!) We have seen castles and wildlife and the beautiful "Ring of Kerry" I have to say that county Kerry is my favorite place so far.. and one of the most beautiful places I've ever been. Limerick is a small city on the Shannon river..typical city anywhere but I did leave mum & Bill behind and spent the afternoon touring a 600 year old castle that is just outside the city. It was part of a folk park(living museum) and I took some beautiful pictures.

The video I'm posting is a Ceilidh we went to at a place called Kate Kearney's Cottage...dinner was good and it was a lot of fun.

Kildare,Kilkenney & Waterford.

We said goodbye to Dublin today and traveled through Kildare, Kilkenney and are staying just tonight in Waterford. We toured the Waterford crystal factory and visited a the Irish national stud(horse breeding) We stopped for lunch in Kilkenney and did some shopping and I took some pictures at the castle. Tomorrow we'll leave for Blarney castle...and my shy self will be able to acquire the "gift of gab" when I kiss the stone....

Outside the city

We left Dublin for the first time since we arrived. It was just a day trip to Glendalough in County Wicklow. We walked through ruins of a monastery dating to the 10th and 12 th century. St Kevin's cross is said to be from the 9th century. The # 7 is prevalent here..7 steps through the arches, 7 churches on the property, and it is said that the round tower will fall 7 days before the end of the world. It was a truly beautiful place to visit. We also visited Dublin castle and got some great picture there as well.

One long travel day.

it's been a long day, or has it been two? At this point I'm not really sure. The six hour flight to London served as dinner time, overnight and breakfast. That is alot for six hours . Then it was 50 mins to Dublin. These are Ireland from the air....
